Walker Guest House Closing Party

Celebrate SAF's Walker Guest House Replica @ The Ringling. Designed by Paul Rudolph in 1952 and also known as the Cannonball House, the exhibit will close after 17 months on Sunday, April 30, 2017.

Umbrella House Construction Completed
This time-lapse video shows the construction phase of the meticulously rebuilt pool canopy of architect Paul Rudolph’s 1953 Umbrella House in Sarasota, Florida from October to November 2015. "Architectural Digest" described the Umbrella House as “one of the five most remarkable houses of the mid-twentieth century”.

The Sarasota Architectural Foundation (SAF) celebrates the Sarasota School of Architecture movement, and advocates to preserve the midcentury modern structures that exemplify its forward-looking principles.

SAF's "Sarasota Architecture Matters" campaign features five of the most important Sarasota School structures. The Umbrella House, designed by architect Paul Rudolph in 1953, is currently undergoing a meticulous restoration by the homeowners.

Thank you to filmmaker and producer Craig Worsham, 82º West Marketing,, Raeanne Malone, Bob Essner, Carl Abbott, Dr. Barry LaClair, Janet Minker, Christopher Wilson and Dan Snyder.

“I consider myself both [an architect and an artist]. For me, art is architecture — and architecture is art. They’re forms of creative expression in very different media, but they come from the same place.” — Victor Lundy
